Please, Do Not Assume
Please, do not assume...
In my opinion and observation, which may be unpopular, and I am okay with that!
There seems to be an assumption amongst some that everyone we come in contact with identifies as Christian.
Or that, if you identify as Christian yourself, those who do not are wrong, bad, or evil.
I remember a few years ago hosting a holiday party for my office, and a team member failed to attend because they did not identify with the religion that the holiday stood to represent.
I also remember offering a team member a birthday gift and was informed that, in their beliefs, they don't celebrate birthdays.
So, I've been there too. Assuming
It is essential for us not to assume that those around us believe what we believe, celebrate how we do, or are of the same spiritual foundation as we are.
But that doesn't make anyone who believes differently beneath us!
As my company @coreempowermentllc steps into more corporate spaces, I am beginning to see this topic show up for many employees who feel unseen in the workplace, which is highly focused on Christian beliefs, holidays, and company celebrations. Often leaving their religious and spiritual beliefs disregarded.
I'm leaving this here for some food for thought as we commune with others who may be different from us spiritually, in the workplace...and our FAMILY and FRIEND circles.
May we all exemplify love to those whom we differ from spiritually.
